For the last 30 years, the practice of Michael E. Guerra, M.D., has been the ophthalmologist with vision. Meet the Doctor

Dr. Guerra is a board-certified ophthalmologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He attended The University of Texas at Austin to complete his pre-med studies, Dr. Guerra went on to earn his four-year medical degree at Texas A & M University College of Medicine. He completed a one-year ophthalmology internship at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. He then went to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN., where he was Chief Resident of Ophthalmology from 1986-1989.


He opened his solo practice of Ophthalmology in Kerrville, Texas in 1989. In addition to specializing in small incision, no-stitch cataract surgery, he provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family (ages 7+), including routine eye exams for glasses or contacts, diabetic eye exams, management of glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eyes and many other eye conditions.


Through Operation Blessing, Dr. Guerra and his staff have traveled to countries such as Ecuador, Philippines, and Nicaragua, sharing his expertise in cataract surgery and eye care.


In addition to being an instrument rated pilot, he is also a state and federally licensed commercial fireworks operator. Dr. Guerra is, and has been for the last few years, the pyrotechnician and orchestrator of Kerrville’s annual July 4th fireworks display. Fly fishing and golf are a few of his other interests.
